Beefsteak tomato is an excellent slicing indeterminate tomato with old-fashioned delicious flavor. Plant produces big meaty 4-5 inch bright red slightly ribbed 1-2 pound fruits with rich full flavor on vigorous highly productive vines. Excellent sweet flavor makes it wonderful for eating fresh, cooking, slicing, using in salads, canning, or for freezing. Excellent variety that has been popular for many years.
Sowing: Begin indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost, sowing seeds 1/8 of an inch deep. Or direct sow outside after all danger of frost. Provide light after emergence. Keep soil moist during germination. Harden off before transplanting outside. Planting in full sun, transplant by setting the plant deep, up to the first true leaves by digging a deep hole. Transplant carefully, avoid disturbing roots. Water thoroughly.

Care information: Cultivate shallowly or mulch to control weeds and retain moisture. Plants should be staked or caged to support the branches and keep the fruit off the ground.
