An All American Selections winner in 1963. Plants produce delicious butter head type lettuce heads. Plants yield small open yet tightly bunched 6 inch rosettes that are fan shaped. The broad delicious leaves are dark green, crisp and sweet with a mild buttery flavor. Wonderful flavor. Never bitter. It is excellent for salads as well as garnishes. It is slow bolting. Easy to grow. Very heat tolerant.
Sowing: Direct sow as early as the soil can be worked covering seed barely about 1/8 of an inch firming soil gently. Can be sown 3-6 weeks before planting outside. Transplants can survive temperatures as low as 20
