This variety was introduced in the late 1800’s from France and has been a standard since 1929. It is uniform with a intense deep reddish- orange color on blocky broad-shouldered conical shaped 5-7 inch coreless roots with a blunt tip. They are smooth moderately tapered. Provides excellent yield. It even grows well in heavy or shallow soils retaining it’s shape well. Good for eating fresh, canning, or freezing. Has great flavor, is crisp and tender. Carrots are known to be high in vitamin A and be a good source of vitamin C and Potassium.
Sowing: Plant in full sun outdoors in spring as soon as soil can be worked. Cover seeds 1/8-1/4 of an inch of soil. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Can grow a spring and fall crop.
Germination: 6-20 days Spacing: Space plants 2-3 inches apart. Space rows 15-18 inches apart or closer if space is limited. Plant in beds 2-4 inches in all directions. Light: Full Sun

Information: Can plant at 2-3 week intervals for continual harvest. Planting can continue until mid-July. Carrots grow best in sun, with rich light soil and regular thorough watering. Harvesting: You may need to loosen soil to pull carrots out with out breaking the tops. Trim off foliage to extend storage time. Carrots can be harvested until the ground freezes.
