Plants yield large 25 pound round watermelons striped light green and dark green. Finely textured sweet red flesh with very high sugar content and small brown seeds. Thin but durable rind of uniform size. Sweet flavor. Fine Quality. Open pollinated. Disease resistant plants produce vigorous vines providing lots of sunburn protection. Plant produces high yields. First introduced commercially in 1963. A very good selection!
Sowing: Plant outdoors in the spring 1-2 weeks after last frost. Sow seeds 1-1 1/2 of an inch covering with fine soil, in full sun. Keep moist during germination.

Information: Avoid spraying leaves when watering. It is helpful to plant in a raised bed, a southern exposure, or heat retaining wall. Apply mulch around base of plant. Protect the watermelon fruit from the damp ground by setting on boards. When you tap the watermelon with your knuckles and it sounds hollow then it is ready. Cut the watermelon carefully from the plants to prevent damaging the vines.
