Sweet Majoram is an ancient herb that is used as a seasoning by many cultures including the French, Greeks, Germans, and Italians. The English have used it in tea. It is an herb with a sweet and spicy flavor that is good for all meats, fish, and poultry, salads, soups, dressings, beans. It’s sweet spicy taste and aroma are very versitile. It’s flavor is a blend of sweet pine and citrus. Similar to oregano but sweeter. It grows well inside or outside. Compact plant with soft green leaves with pink/lavender flowers on top. It does well in containers and inside as a kitchen herb. Grown as a perennial in warm climates it is hardy to zone 5 with protection and an annual in cold climates.
Sowing: You can start indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Sow seed 1/4 of an inch deep. Keep moist. New seedlings should be kept out of blazing hot sun. Transplant (if planting outside) to a sunny spot with fairly rich soil.

Care information: You may begin to lightly harvesting after about 6 weeks. To keep plant tidy harvest on a regular basis. The flowers can be harvested as well, good in salads, use fresh or dry. Sprigs can be tied together and hung to dry or spread out in a dark warm place for about 1 week. Store in dark containers away from light. It will freeze, also, for about 2 months.
