Sage is both culinary and ornamental. Plant produces velvety green-silver leaves with small lavender flowers. Leaves add a delicious flavor to stuffing, salads, vegetable dishes, breads, vinegars, cheese, in soups and more. The flowers are attractive as a garnish and in fresh bouquets. Sage is very fragrant and can be added to decorate wreaths. The plant repels insects. Makes an attractive edging plant.
Sowing: Direct sow in the garden in the spring after danger of frost has passed, through autumn lightly covering seed about 1/8 of an inch in full sun to partial shade and well drained soil. Can also be grown indoors in pots.

Information: Prune back beyond flowers after the plant has finished blooming taking care not to cut into wood that has no visible growth. Best when used fresh but it can also be dried. To dry: Wait until the plants have grown back from being pruned. Mist lightly with water the night before, and the next morning when it has dried cut the stems as long as possible without cutting old wood. Then hang 3-4 to a bunch in a clean, dry and dark location. When the leaves are crispy and dry strip leaves and store in airtight containers
