The Oriental Poppy is a magestic showing, with it’s fern-like leaves, the large brilliant red delicate blossoms, purple black stamens, and it’s unique pod seeds. Flowers can measure from 5-9 inches around. Blooms are wonderful for indoor arrangements as well as the dried seed pods. They attract bees, butterflies, ladybugs, and other beneficial insects and they are deer and rabbit resistant. They are easy to grow and require a limited amount of care. The plants bring specatacular color and beauty to your garden!
Sowing: Prepare the ground by turning over the soil, place seeds sparsley into dry soil. Lightly press into soil when soil temperature is 55 degrees or more in a sunny location in good loamy soil, then water.

Germination: 15 days Moisture: Make sure it has water twice a week in the early season, but after they have finished blooming and the leaves die they should be left alone. The roots thrive in this dormant stage with neglect during the hottest months.

Information: Can be grown in any climate if mulched before deep frost. Mulch can remain in the spring. Keep mulch away from the poppy’s stem to prevent rot from happening. To use as cut flowers, cut the stem just as the buds are unfolding, sear the bottom of the stem where cut over an open flame, and then place in warm water.
