Native to the foothills and the Rocky Mountains of the western U.S. The Rocky Mountain Penstemon grows easily over a wide range of the western U.S. Tall showy spikes feature masses of snapdragon like blooms of intense blue-purple. Flowers last for over a month in late spring. This perennial spreads steadily by seed to form large clumps. This is one of the longest lived and most easily grown penstemon.
Sowing: Full sun. Sow in fall or cold stratify seed 4 weeks before planting in spring. cover seed lightly with soil (about 1/16 inch) because it needs light to germinate.
