Red Burgundy onions produce beautiful 4 inch wide smooth skinned dark red onions. It has soft white and red ringed flesh that is very mild and sweet. Good in salads and sandwiches. an excellent slicing variety. A short day variety. Good keeper. Open pollinated. A wonderful onion to grow!
Sowing: Direct sow as soon as soil can be prepared in early spring, 1/4-1/2 inch deep. Keep moist during germination. Can be started indoors 8 weeks before transplanting out doors.

Information: To grow large onions from seed plant in garden in full sun, fertile soil, where there is no standing water after heavy rain. Keep well weeded with shallow cultivation. Harvest when the onions have begun to develop skins and tops are falling over. Pull the onion and sun cure at least one week. Make sure necks are completely dry before trimming to ensure long storage time. You can harvest onion for their green stems (scallions) anytime by cutting the green stems when the tops are 4-8 inches tall.
