An All American Selections winner in 1939, Clemson Spineless Okra is extremely popular. Plant produces an abundance of dark green slightly grooved straight pointed spineless pods. It is an outstanding producer of very flavorful okra that is excellent for use in soups, stews, curries, relishes, roasted, fried, boiled, and pickled. It is drought resistant, producing best in hot summer weather. Pods grow quickly. Vigorous. It begins producing when the plant is one foot tall and will continue until frost if it is kept picked. Pods are best when 2 1/2 to 3 inches long. An excellent selection!
Sowing: Direct sow after danger of frost has passed 1/2 inch deep when soil has warmed. Sow indoors 1/4 inch deep 4-5 weeks ahead of transplant. Keep moist during germination. Transplant after danger of frost. Do not disturb roots.

Information: To harvest clip small 3-4 inch pods. Harvest regularly for continued fruit. Warm weather crop it needs soil and temperature to be warm to start it’s vigorous growth. 5-6 plants will produce enough for a small family. Mulch base. Can be substituted for coffee. Grind up roasted seeds.
