Introduced in the 1920’s this musk melon is still a reliable classic. With oval salmon- orange deliciously very sweet flesh and a heavy netting rind. Very thick flesh with a small seed cavity. It stays sweet and grows in a wide range of conditions. Drought tolerant. Resistant to powdery mildew. 3 1/2 pound wonderfully flavored fruit. This variety is an excellent choice for the home garden and more.
Sowing: Can start indoors early 4-6 weeks prior to planting outside. Plant in peat pots as it does not transplant well. Direct sow 1-2 weeks after danger of frost when soil has warmed. Sow 1 inch deep in full sun in well drained soil
Germination: 8-10 days Spacing: 2 1/2-3 feet between plants. Space 4-6 feet between rows or hills., for a hill 5 feet apart.
