Lewis Flax, named after Meriwether Lewis of Lewis and Clark because it was discovered on their expedition across the plains in 1806, has beautiful blue flowers on drooping branches at the tip of each stem. It blooms abundantly. It is drought tolerant and needs very little care. It does well on elevations from 3200 to 11,155 feet. A beautiful native wildflower.
Sowing: Plant seed 1/8 of an inch deep in full sun in the fall or early spring when ground can be worked. Regular watering is important for the first 4 to 6 weeks.
