Bush type variation of the famous Blue Lake Pole, which has been considered the best pole bean ever offered in the world, Blue Lake Bush #274 was introduced in 1962, it combined great flavor and production of the original on an easy to manage 15-18 inch upright bush type plant. It quickly then became the most widely grown bush bean variety in the US and has so remained for over 40 years. It features a lush green upright bush plant that produces in abundance 5 to 5 1/2 inch long stringless jade green pods with white seeds. Productive with exceptional sweet flavor. When cooked the beans retain their firmness over a long period. If harvested on a regular basis it will continue to yield a heavy crop over the entire season. Best used fresh, it is also exceptional frozen or canned. Resistant to Bean Mosiac Virus. It adapts to a wide range of climates. Easy and trouble free even for one new to gardening. A wonderful variety to add to your garden.
Sowing: Plant in full sun outdoors in spring after all danger of frost and soil is warm. Sow seeds 1-1 1/2 inch deep in moist well drained soil, placing seed on it's side. Keep seed bed moderately moist during germination.If started indoors first, transplant when 2-3 inches in height. Soaking 1-2 hours before planting speeds germination.
