A very popular gourmet green with an distinct, interesting, spicy, smoky flavor. It's flavor is delicious. Large dark green extra-tender leaves are an excellent addition to salads, and gourmet cooking. Easy to grow. White and tan flowers are edible. Prefers cold weather, and is extremely cold hardy. Sowing: Direct sow in early spring 1/4-1/2 inch deep in well drained soil in full sun to partial shade, or in pots indoors. Can also be sown in late summer for a fall crop
